SAGRADA FAMILIA TEMPLE

This grandiose work, architecturally complex and full of religious symbolism is the most visited monument in Spain. The great genius dedicated more than 40 years to the church, and, after his death in 1926, the project continued according to his original plans and drawings.

Stone, brick, tile and glass come together in unimaginable architectural designs. Religious sculptures, immense stained-glass windows and a host of decorative elements are fundamental to the

work. Standing out overall are its impressive towers, more than 100 meters high.

  1. CASA MILÁ o LA PEDRERA

You can find this beautiful monument in Paseo de Gracia Avenue. The building featured 20 homes that were rented to affluent families of the era. The Milà couple, the owners of the property, lived in the penthouse apartment. La Pedrera, however, is not a conventional residential building.

The building is crowned with a rooftop terrace, finished with seven chimneys, covered withlime, white ‘trencadís’ (mosaic) and glass. The heads of seven mythological warriors are featured, which, from the almost imaginary rooftop, watch over the city.

  1. CASA BATLLÓ

Casa Batlló, an iconic Gaudí building on Passeig de Gràcia, represents the artistic splendour of this unique architect. Declared a World Heritage site by UNESCO, its undulating roof, which reminds you of a dragon’s back, is one of the icons of Barcelona Modernisme.

  1. CASA VICENS

Casa Vicens was Gaudí’s first important building. Casa Vicens is located in Gràcia and was built between 1883 and 1889. The well-known tile manufacturer Manuel Vicens I Montaner inherited a piece of land and wanted to build a “summer” house here.

The first two floors of the house are designed in a typical Spanish style. The third floor, on the other hand, is designed more in Arabic style

  1. HOSPITAL SANT PAU

Hospital Saint Pau was designed by Lluís Domènech I Montaner. With its main building and many pavilions, the Hospital Sant Pau is the largest complex of Catalan modernist architecture. In 1997 the old hospital of Hospital de Sant Pau, together with Palau de la Música Catalana, was placed on the World Heritage List by UNESCO.
